12-year-old primary school pupil abandons her newborn baby in a bush in China (photos)

 A Chinese 12-year-old girl secretly gave birth to a baby girl and abandoned her right after in bushes in the city of Yibin. Police revealed that the underage girl was one of the 'left-behind' children in China, whose parents moved away to seek work in cities. Her parents took her brother with them, but left her to live with the grandparents.

 The abandoned baby was spotted in the bushes by the side of a road under a highway bridge, and rushed to the hospital. Paediatricians said the baby was born prematurely, and had to be given intravenous fluid and placed in an incubator to keep warm.

Other examination results of the baby showed no worrying signs of health and she's reportedly in a healthy condition. Good Samaritans have given money and life necessities to the little girl. It is believed that the baby will be sent to an orphanage to be taken care of when her health condition stablises.

Police officers are investigating how the 12-year-old became pregnant and have not ruled out the possibility of rape.
