Police in Chonburi, Thailand, chasing a man and his wife who fled when residents sought justice after hitting and tying two young children to a tree to punish them for allegedly stealing.
Social media was flooded with photos of two boys tied to a tree outside a temple where they allegedly stole 200 baht during the weekend.
Dozens of residents gathered in the village on Monday to protest and demanded that the couple be arrested and charged with mistreatment after the severe punishment they had imposed after accepting them as judges, jurors and executioners. .
The guardian of the boys and a social worker then took the boys to the local police station to lodge an official complaint with the abbot of Wat Thung Niang with the request to the mayor to force an arrest.
